Analyzing HRD Metaphor-in-Use

Tom Shindell

Verna Willis

The problem and the solution. Improvement in the understanding of metaphors in HRD involves identifying and analyzing not only those embedded in the literature but also those actually used by HRD professionals in their teaching, practice, and research. This chapter offers the findings and inferences drawn from a preliminary survey of HRD metaphors-in-use. It illustrates the variety and type of current metaphors and explores implications for future HRD research and analysis.
